Course description

The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) is a three-step examination system designed to assess a physician's ability to apply their medical knowledge, concepts, and principles to patient care. It is a standardized assessment for medical licensure in the United States.

Step 1 evaluates basic science understanding and its application in medical practice. Step 2 consists of two parts: Clinical Knowledge (CK) assesses clinical knowledge and skills, while Clinical Skills (CS) evaluates clinical and communication skills in a simulated patient environment. Step 3 focuses on assessing whether a physician can apply medical knowledge and understanding in unsupervised patient care scenarios.

The USMLE is a critical part of the process for graduates of medical schools seeking licensure to practice medicine in the United States. It is administered by the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). Successful completion of all three steps is typically required to obtain a medical license in the U.S.
